Visited on 27 Dec 24 The food was delicious, the manager was fantastic, and it was an all-around great dining experience, we had a lovely time. Would definitely recommend!

Very dirty room, black mold all round the windows and corner of bathroom. Carpet brown strip was disgusting.
Bathroom needs new bath sink and loo seat all chipped and cheap and shabby.
Evening meal was very poor quality, the breakfast?no cornflakes only high sugar frosties, and my breakfast should have had spinach but it didn't do I had to ask to be informed they had run out!
Overall very dirty building many finger marks around a lot of doors!
Won't be staying there again!!

Avoid at all costs. Dirty and nasty. Loads of black mould in the bathroom - when we complained, we were told “it’s just an old building”.

Avoid! Total dump, filthy dirty in meed of a thorough deep clean, ingrained filth everywhere. Pubic hair in bath unclean toilet. If I hadn't driven for 5 hours and if knew of an alternative would have not stayed. Mattress not fit for use unable to sleep 😡Boiling hot room no air con old fan just making it worse, window open all night to try and get some air however, this just made matters worse as staff outside all night smoking and on phones right under my window. Room right over courtyard / beer garden very noisy. No breakfast included but given the lack of hygiene and filth everywhere I would not eat here. Staff generally appeared like it was an effort to respond to any simple question, probably the worst service I have ever experienced. Total horror experience like something from a tv show on hotel nightmares. How this place hasn't been shut down beggars belief and at £100 for a basic double is absolutely disgusting AVOID AT ALL COST !

City center olde wolde Hotel. It needs investment in some places but it is clean and comfortable. Welcoming team and food well served.

Very old and badly needs renovation. Had a meal there recently together with all my colleagues and also booked a room for us.
Room: it was a family room, good size, the carpet was an ugly striped brown coloured carpet that I think has never seen water and soap, it was very very old and worn, the bed was comfortable and clean with comfortable duvets and pillows, the floor inside the room keeps creaking everytine you step on it, the bathroom had a bath, sink and toilet. Towels were provided. The bathtub was clean but it really needs a new one, the toilet was not scrubbed properly since thick limescales can be seen on the bottom and sides, the whole bathroom has not been maintained/cleaned properly. It totally just needs changing as it is very old. I definitely would not rent a room there.
Restaurant: we had a late dinner. We had one server for our huge group. I think she was overwhelmed by us all, although we did preorder. However, our drinks were all in shambles! She took note of all our orders but for some unknown reason, she still made an error of it all. She serves the drink, says the wrong name of the drink and serves it to the wrong person. Then retracts it later on and says that she heard a different thing even if we already pointed it out to her on the drinks menu. The worst part, she made an error on the drinks, served it to us for free but later on at the till, she did not delete the error and made us pay for it insisting that she had it right. She also punched in drink orders that were not ordered. I felt sorry for her, and just paid for the drink. But in all honesty, she should not be working with large groups in restaurants. The manager doesn’t seem to listen to us and just insists that we made the order. Poor service, poor communication, poor customer service. Would not go back again if I can help it and I think my whole group of 16 colleagues will do the same.

Stayed here many times, friendly helpful staff. One downside I did notice this last time I stayed the room I was in (no 11) the wallpaper is torn, the shower head sprays all out the bath when showering but most importantly, the reason for a 2 star review is the room wasn't hoovered all week. I stayed Monday to Fri, I didn't feel comfortable to sleep in the bed so had to sleep on top of all the covers fully clothed. I feel like cleanliness has taken a real downward step. I get the hotels old and that's fine, but nothing can be excused for general cleanliness and good housekeeping.
